Here's a simple dish from our upcoming recipe collection.
It's starfruit season in Hawai'i and if you're like me,
there are just too many of them and not enough ideas of how to use them.
This salsa is easy to make and is a real crowd-pleaser.
Starfruit and Hawaiian Chili Pepper Salsa
Yield: 4 cups
Time: 10 min of chopping
10 roma tomatoes washed and finely diced
4-6 ripe star fruit washed and seeds removed finely chopped
1 bunch green onion chopped (green and white parts)
1 lime juiced (2-3 tbsp)
1 medium sweet bell pepper finely chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
1 bunch cilantro leaves, washed and finely chopped
2-3 Hawaiian Chili Peppers finely minced (I recommend wearing gloves for this)
*1 chili pepper makes a mild salsa, 2 makes for medium and 3 is spicy
In a large bowl combine all ingredients and mix. Taste and adjust lime and salt to liking.
*The salsa will generally last 3 days in the fridge- but I promise you’ll eat it before then!
